Volunteer

If you are want to become more involved with Potters for Peace, the first step is to participate in a two-week brigade in Central America. This will give you an idea of where and how we work. Once you have gained an understanding of the organization, we can work together to find a volunteer opportunity that best utilizes your skills.

U.S. Volunteers

In the U.S. volunteering for PFP usually boils down to helping out with fundraising. There are several regional pottery sales that always need assistance or we can work with you to develop a sale or other PFP event in your area. For example, an “Empty Bowls” sale is an excellent fundraiser and we have videos and printed materials available to inform the public on what PFP is all about.

Each year we participate in the NCECA conference where we have a table in the non-profit section and we sometimes hold a benefit show and sale of pottery there, so extra hands are always needed.

Experienced grant writers can always be put to good use and we occasionally need new board members.

Overseas Volunteers

Potters for Peace has a limited number of volunteer opportunities available for work with filter factories around the world. These opportunities require, as a prerequisite, an unpaid internship at an existing filter facility.

If you wish to contact us about work overseas please go about it in the same way you would apply for a job: send us your resume and a cover letter that outlines your reasons for volunteering and your availability.
